Otari Wilton's Bush

Otari Wilton's Bush is a gem amongst Wellington's green spaces, with ancient rainforest sitting neatly alongside manicured lawns, native plants and heaps of natural play features to explore.
We love our sessions that start at the Troup lawn: a shallow stream runs alongside the lawn where you can see friendly ducks and the resident longfin eels, which often hang out under the bridge across the water. We love the safe, flat access to the stream, the steep bank at the back of the lawn which offers opportunities for climbing, building huts and imaginative play.

On rainy days we love to meet in the Fernery, where NZ's famous ferns offer an area with abundant natural shelter under the canopy. This is the perfect spot for a game of hide and seek or a nature scavenger hunt, and even a short walk around this area presents fallen trees, mushrooms, vines and interesting plants to see.

How to find us:
Troup lawn
Park at the Northern carpark - the entrance is on Churchill Drive opposite the turnoff to Wadestown. Follow the Circular walk which is a flat, buggy-friendly track leading to the Troup lawn - we love this walk to start our day, there is so much to see on the way.
Alternatively, you can take the slightly quicker downhill walk from the main car park on Wilton Rd - also following the Circular track via the Canopy walkway - but be warned there are steps so not so great with wheels!
